What is 3S
3S is a shoot cashiering package that is geared towards Trap that runs using Windows*. 3S is able to handle up to 3000 shooters per event, with up to 24 events in a shoot spanning across 14 days. 3S has been designed with ease of use in mind. Every feature in 3S has a robust amount of documentation on it, with our users manual taking you step by step through the process of running a shoot. We also provide support every day of the week.

3S is also able to handle the majority of work when it comes to Skeet and Sporting Clays tournaments. We have even been working on adding additional support for these sports. Allowing you to use 3S for any type of shoot you want to run whether it be Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, or even a league. On average 3S saves over 24 hours worth of work when cashering a shoot by hand and is actively maintained by a staff of 2 full-time developers.

3S is the most popular shoot cashering package in the world with over 500 users. There are also several programs that interface with 3S to add on extra functionality. We also have built-in support for presquad.com and 3sscores.com. 3S is the official shoot cashering package of the ATA and PITA. We are always willing to work with developers to help create add-ons.

Computer Specs

3S recommends the following specifications. We highly suggest all computers to run Solid State Drives due to greater performance. The most important thing is that all devices support Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000)

Server Computer Specs (network under 5 computers)

Minimum CPU: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5

Minimum ram: 8GB

Minimum Storage:  >128GB Solid State Drive (SSD)

Server Computer Specs (network above 5 computers)

Minimum CPU: Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5

Minimum ram: 12GB

Minimum Storage:  >256GB Solid State Drive (SSD)

Workstations (clients)

Minimum CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3

Minimum ram: 4GB

Minimum Storage:  >128GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD, recommended)

Make sure all devices support Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000)

Recommended Hardware

 Printers

We suggest only using laser printers because they are faster than inkjet printers. They also tend to last longer. We have compatibility issues with HP and cannon printers, they will throw errors when trying to print from 3S unless you manually install drivers, and even then some HP printers will not print directly from 3S. Why? We honestly do not know.

Networking Equipment

Routers

All networking equipment should be Gigabit (10/100/1000). Wireless connections should be avoided for cashiering, however, if it is required for your setup please ensure a stable network connection.  NEVER USE A SWITCH WITHOUT HAVING A ROUTER ATTACHED TO THE SWITCH

  • TP-Link N450
    • 4 port switch included, works with shoot pro without modifications
  • TP-Link AC900
    • 4 port switch included, works with shoot pro without modifications. Faster than the 450
  • NETGEAR AC1200

Installer is "corrupt"

If you get this error, this is because the download was not successful. Often there are issues with Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge when performing the download of the installer. For some reason, they terminate the download prior to it being complete. Please use google chrome for all downloads from 3S.

The six rules of networking
  1. The server Server_HostName.txt file is always set to localhost
  2. The client Server_HostName.txt file is always set to the name of the computer of the server
  3. The Server3S.exe application must be allowed through the firewall for both private and public connections
  4. No two computers on the network can have the same name
  5. All computers must remain on the same network.
(If you have a computer on network A and a computer on network B they have no path to communicate)
  6. You must have a router on your network.
(If you use a switch you must have one ethernet cable connected to a router to work)

Never run 3S on a computer via WiFi or Wireless. We ask that all users use Ethernet cables to connect computers to the router.

Networking Requirements

For shoot pro you will need to have a router in line with your computers. We suggest a TL-WR940N by TP-Link. You will need to also ensure that your firewall will allow port 12010. As well as all of the network profiles set to private. This will allow for shoot pro to communicate.

If you do not meet these requirements, please purchase the components needed and have someone who is familiar with IT set up the system for you. We are not general IT support, so please only call in if the issue is with 3S not your network

Does 3S Support Card Swipes?

Yes, but no. The number of issues with magnetic card swipes have made us decide that we are no longer going to support them. The number one issue with them is that the ones provided by national organizations are encoded with Type 2 encoding. This means that the magnetic data that is stored on the card has been programmed using a low voltage device. This is the same type of encoding that you would see with hotel keys or parking garages. These have a weak magnetic force therefore the cards are easily corrupted. After numerous complaints about the difficulty to use card swipes, we will no longer sell them, or support them. The software has several places where it is designed to accept one or two line card swipes. However, this is legacy code that will never be updated again.

With all of the issues with card swipes, we decided to migrate over to barcodes. With barcodes, the only time the computer will read a value from them is if the barcode is correct. The technology used with barcodes is much more stable than with magnetic cards and has been used across the country by some of the largest shooting organizations. With Shoot Pro all of the shooter reports print with a barcode and we offer the ability to print barcodes for all of the shooters in a tournament. This way after classification all of your shooters have a barcode that you can use to locate them with just a quick scan.

I have a personal copy of 3S why does the site require a club name?
We use the club name for authentication purposes if you have a personal copy please set your club name to be personal – your name then the notice that you need to configure your club information will go away.
Where do I find the PC MASTER update?
The downloads section of the website is confusing. There are two download sections. One handles all downloads, the other handles purchased downloads such as the software itself. In order to download the PC MASTER updates, you will want to go to the top navigation bar and select downloads. Then if you are paid up to date you will see the PC MASTER download. From there you can simply click on the organization you wish to use and proceed with the update as normal.
How do I recover an organization account.

If your organization lost access to your 3s account and need to transfer the account over to a new member you will need to contact 3S support and fill out the Account Ownership Transfer form once complete you will need to email us the form once it has been filled out. Then we will get in contact with the verified manager of the organization, once complete we will transfer the account.
